Lovely mum who felt she'd 'let everyone down' died at home a week after returning from holiday
Laura Corkin, 43, told her family she was suffering and had been referred to the Initial Response Service for support with her mental health. But the weekend before Laura died, her family said she seemed to be 'doing alright' and had enjoyed an 80s Weekend at Butlins in Skegness with friends.
David Riley, a mental health nurse involved in Laura's care, said: "Laura was very flat in her responses. She said she was feeling worthless but she said she could keep herself safe and agreed to work with the Home Treatment Team." At 5:30pm Laura's partner Andrew Duffy returned to the house and discovered Laura's body in the bathroom. When police arrived, Laura's sister Anna found a calling card from the Home Treatment Team. Coroner Kate Bissett concluded Laura had taken her own life.
Ms Latham said the author of the report found no single cause for Laura's death. However the service is now fully resourced and steps have been taken to ensure patients are seen within recommended timeframes.
