Donald 'Prentice' Patience was declared dead at the scene and a post-mortem examination concluded the death was suspicious
A murder probe has been launched after a dog owner was found dead following the theft of his beloved pooch.
The force said a white labradoodle dog was being taken, but when officers searched the property, they found Donald's body and a post-mortem examination concluded the death was suspicious. Three men have been arrested on suspicion of murder, police said.Two suspects, aged 27 and 41, have been released bailed pending further inquiries, while a 39-year-old man remains in custody. The dog has since been recovered and is being cared for.
Detective Chief Inspector Rachel Smith, of GMP’s Major Incident Team, said: "First, as a force, we would like to pass on our condolences to Donald’s loved ones at this extremely distressing time. We are doing all we can to get the answers they deserve and find out what has happened.
