Police attended reports of the concern for the welfare of a man on Fern Close in Shevington
Emergency services were called to Fern Close in Shevington last Wednesday morning following reports of the concern for the welfare of a man. A 45-year-old man was sadly found dead at the scene.
The force initially said the man's cause of death was 'unexplained'. Detectives and forensics have remained at the quiet cul-de-sac conducting further enquiries to establish the nature of the incident and have now launched a murder investigation.A 47-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of murder by detectives on Monday and has now been bailed pending further enquiries. More than a week on from the tragic discovery, police remain at the scene as investigations continue.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police told the M.E.N: "On Wednesday 9 August 2023 at around 9am, officers were called to a concern for welfare of a man at a property on Fern Close in Shevington, Wigan. Emergency services attended the scene and a 45-year-old man was sadly found deceased at the scene.
"On Monday 14 August 2023, a 47-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of murder. She has since been released on police bail pending further investigation. A scene remains in place while officers continue to make further enquiries."
