Victor Cuevas was taken into custody on Monday afternoon after leading police on a high-speed chase with a tiger in his vehicle the previous day, but the whereabouts of the tiger still unknown.
On Monday night, Cuevas, who is currently out on bond on an unrelated murder charge, was taken into custody at the Fort Bend County Jail. He has been charged with felony evading arrest.While detectives with Houston Police Department believe Cuevas to be the tiger’s owner, lawyer Michael Elliott denied his client’s ownership of the animal.
The city of Houston has an ordinance stating that individuals cannot have a tiger, but it is not a criminal matter. ‘My main concern right now is focused on finding him, and finding the tiger, because what I don’t want him to do is harm the tiger. We have plenty of places where we can take the tiger and he can spend the rest of his life.’
