'She's furious with me for moving 'a stranger' into her home'
Struggling with my 20 year old daughter.
My daughter is away at Uni and I'm having massive trouble with her controling and maniupluative behaviour despite the fact she isn't at home. My partner has moved into the family home and she is furious with me cause 'I have moved a stranger into her home'. She has met him on several occasions and unforutunately none of them went particulary well.
My ex left over 5 years ago and my daughter has never fully got over it and now seems hell bent on making my life miserable. She appears to think I should be single the rest of my life and as soon as my son leaves home I should move to NI to be nearer her. She didn't like the man I saw previously and he thoughts are that my current partner is no better. She cannot see that I am actually really happy and my partner is the one who makes that happen.
How do I tell my daughter to politely ***** out? Yes, she is entitled to her opinion but this need to control and manipulate me is just wrong. I feel like the child and she is the mother. I've been so upset with the way she has spoken to me but she doesn't understand why I am upset- I only get told she is the victim in all this. She has now started ringing her brother up and winding him up to make trouble too.
I just feel lost and upset at a time when things are moving forwards and I am actually happy for the first time in years.
