When GCSE results are published on Thursday, much of the media attention will focus on school students who sat their exams for the first time. This year’s grades are widely expected toA number of these students will, understandably, be disappointed. Yet a significant number of those receiving their results are re-sitting students in further education, like the young gentleman in the park, who have faced monumental financial and personal challenges over the past year to reach this point.who will feel the worst effects of grade deflation this year. As a society, we must act to help further education students who have been bearing the worst effects of educational cuts for over a decade.
