'My grandma should have been safe in her home... now you can see the fear in her eyes'
The heartbroken granddaughter of a vulnerable, elderly woman who was attacked in her own bedroom at a care home has spoken of the anguish the ordeal has caused her entire family - and how her grandma has been 'destroyed'.
"A defenceless and vulnerable old lady should have felt safe in her own home" Speaking at court, her devastated granddaughter, who also cannot be identified, told of the turmoil the attack had on her elderly gran and how she now has 'fear in her eyes' when she sees men she doesn't know. "I can’t begin to imagine the pain she experiences from the moment she wakes up to the moment she goes to sleep.
"Everytime I think of my grandma I find it hard to remember the happy times in our lives. Someone as evil as him should never be able to walk the streets again. My family have to deal with the consequence of his violent actions forever." Ms Faux also said an officer, who has been working within the police for over 18 years, said: “This must be one of the worst incidents I have ever attended."
In interview, he claimed he did not remember the incident, and told officers he had been drinking since 5am the day before, and had drunk two litres of rum, bottles of lager, two drinks of vodka and Pepsi and had also taken cocaine.
