Still, Chung is more likely to play with different silhouettes nowadays – perhaps a reflection of an increased confidence over time. “As I get older and fashion evolves I prefer oversized silhouettes or conversely very tight or short or see-through clothes,” she explains. “When I was younger I didn’t want to dress in an overtly sexy way because I found it expected or boring or kowtowing to convention. Now I’m just like whatever, I just want to feel hot.
What does it feel like to be a style muse to so many, nearly two decades on? “It feels very nice,” Chung replies. “I used to reject the term muse because I thought it diminished anything I actually worked hard on like TV or writing, but now I take it as a delightful compliment. Clothes are powerful.”
