Council officials are unsure what it is
Mystery surrounds the installation of a piece of equipment on an Arnold lamppost as both councils responsible say they don't know what it is. A member of the public first spotted it on Wednesday .
The equipment was found on a lamppost on Church Drive, with a large microphone appearing to be attached to the side of it. But both councils responsible for the area were unaware of the equipment and could not provide answers on exactly what it was. A Nottinghamshire County Council spokesperson said: "Nottinghamshire County Council is not aware of the equipment being installed but we do believe it has now been removed. We’ll monitor the situation."A spokesperson for Gedling Borough Council said that it wasn't responsible for the equipment either, but said that the authority believed the equipment could be an environmental noise monitor or sounds level meter.
