Lakers vs. Warriors. Who will advance to the Western Conference Finals? We asked some experts to predict the series. Scout’s pick: Warriors in six Coach’s pick: Warriors in five Executive’s pick: Warriors in seven Unanimous pick: Warriors
“Boston got to the finals last year. Philly hasn’t gotten past the second round in forever. … I’m picking Boston in six. Especially with Embiid out and maybe struggling physically, you’re relying on Harden and Maxey. … I think it’s a more difficult matchup for Philly. … The Celtics had a little bit of a blip when they lost toin Game 5, but they came back nicely, which I think will help their confidence; closing a series on the other guys’ court, that’s always a positive.
“Philly’s still very dangerous on a sheer talent level. I think the key guy for them is Harris. Harris played very well against the Nets. … They need him, especially in Game 1, and maybe however many games Embiid is out. He’s really got to step it up. They need to rely on him. In the normal scheme of things, he’s their fourth option, but now he has to step up and be really good.”“This is a tough one because Embiid’s questionable health makes it difficult to try to judge.
“I’m going with Boston because Embiid is not healthy. If he’s healthy, it’s probably seven. But Boston has the scoring, the shooting and the defenders. At some point in this series, they will overwhelm Philly.— there’s a lot of experience with that team. But I think Boston’s too tough. This is their year, it seems like.”“You have to say Boston now, and it’s Boston twofold. One, they have home-court advantage. And No. 2, you have to worry about the health of Embiid.
