Messi took the penalty and he nonchalantly placed the ball into the top corner to place Argentina in control of the tie. Louis van Gaal’s side pushed for an equaliser during the ten minutes of added time and they got their goal in the final few seconds of the game. The Netherlands and Argentina gave it a go in extra-time but neither side were able to find a winner so the game had to be settled by penalties.
