There is no missing the newest addition to Goose Gate in Hockley
Sitting in new Nottingham bar Pogo, there's a homely feel to the surroundings. Instead of standard bar furniture, mid-century teak tables and masses of plants make it comfortable and cosy for customers while they sip on a beer, cocktail or a fruity homemade soda.
Downstairs can seat nearly 30 but upstairs has been opened up more than doubling the space. There's booths and tables, however, the stools next to a wooden G Plan sideboard and an old-fashioned writing bureau are THE places to sit. Calum, previously found behind the bar at Brass Monkey, Alchemilla and Mollis, has taken into account the non-drinkers, who want something more interesting than cola or lemonade. He has conjured up alcohol-free sodas, made from scratch."They are going to be changing. I want to keep the menu fresh. At the moment it's rhubarb and custard with fresh rhubarb and vanilla and a grapefruit and basil with homemade grapefruit syrup and fresh basil," he said.
"Everyone is really down to earth. We just want it to be a fun venue - no egos, not pretentious. Everyone who works here is very genuine, very fun."
