Under sweeping European regulations set to come into force later this year, online multinationals will be required to loosen their grip on the digital economy and liberalise their platforms.Apple could be forced to include rival app stores on iPhones, and Meta Platforms required to enable users of WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger to message people on rival services.
