Queen Elizabeth II has been laid to rest in the King George VI Memorial Chapel at Windsor Castle alongside her late husband Prince Philip and her parents and sister
Her Majesty, who passed away on 8 September aged 96, was laid to rest in the King George VI Memorial Chapel in St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle following her state funeral on 19 September.
The fresh stone now contains, in list form, “George VI 1895-1952” and “Elizabeth 1900-2002” followed by a metal Garter Star, and then “Elizabeth II 1926-2022” and “Philip 1921-2021”. The new chapel stone comes ahead of the reopening of Windsor Castle next week, which will see members of the public able to visit the Queen's burial site.
