New claims for the Winter Fuel Payment can be made from mid-September until March 31, 2024.
The Department for Work and Pensions recently published online guidance for the 2023/24 Winter Fuel Payment, which will be worth up to £600 for people of State Pension age. The annual heating bill help will be paid directly to eligible households and is being boosted this year by a pensioner cost of living payment.
The money will also be paid to eligible British expats living in 25 European Economic Area countries or Switzerland. Older people living in warmer countries bordering the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea will not be eligible for the annual payment.
