More nurses and paramedics could go on strike as unions prepare to ramp up industrial action 🔴 Unison general secretary Christina McAnea said there would be 'no alternative but to escalate the action' in January
Unison general secretary, Christina McAnea, said that if the Government refuses to negotiate, their members may decide to escalate strike action next month, asthousands of emergency workers in England and Wales went on strike for between 12 and 24 hours
“If that doesn’t happen, then we will be looking at our tactics going forward and I think we will have no alternative but to escalate the action and take further action in the new year.” The head of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine said he was concerned about a ‘rebound effect’ with fewer people calling 999 meaning things could be ‘much worse in the days to come’ for the NHS and patients
. However, senior medics fear the fall will result in a “rebound effect” with people suffering in silence and services becoming overwhelmed in the days before Christmas.
