NHS waiting lists have climbed to their highest-ever level once again, to 7.6m - pushing Rishi Sunak's pledge to cut the backlog even further out of reach theipaper
waiting list has soared to 7.6m, the highest-ever number, meaning one in eight people in England are now waiting for hospital treatment.
However unions insisted the figures was already high due to the Covid pandemic, staff shortages and long-term backlog in the NHS. Ministers have pledged to eliminate all waits for routine hospital treatment of more than a year by March 2025. “The last Labour government delivered the shortest waiting lists and highest patient satisfaction in history. The next Labour government will provide the staff and reform the NHS needs, so it is there for us when we need it once again.”
“The NHS cannot take any more of this Conservative government. The NHS is being pushed to the brink through neglect, incompetence, and disregard for the needs of patients.
