He was jailed for 14-and-a-half years in 2010 for the murder of William Meek
Glen Allen, who was jailed for 14-and-a-half years in 2010 for the murder of William Meek, had been ‘unlawfully at large’.
The 34-year-old had been sought by police after he “breached the conditions of his temporary prison release” last week. In a statement issued on Wednesday, the PSNI said: “Police in Causeway Coast and Glens have arrested 34-year-old Glen Allen who was unlawfully at large from prison. Allen, convicted in relation to murder following an incident in June 2008, had breached the conditions of his temporary prison release.
“He was arrested on Tuesday night, 20th December following Police Service appeals to trace his whereabouts. We would like to thank members of the public who responded to the appeal with information. Allen is currently in police custody pending return to prison.” Allen had failed to return to Maghaberry Prison following temporary release. Portrush man William Meek was stabbed 51 times in the head, face and neck in June 2008.For all the latest news, visit the Belfast Live homepage here. T o sign up to our FREE newsletters, seehere.
