The First Minister insisted there was no 'automatic right' for a trans woman convicted of a crime to serve their sentence in a women's prison

Nicola Sturgeon has said that convicted rapist Isla Bryson will not serve her sentence in a women's prison.

She said: "There is no automatic right for a trans woman convicted of a crime to serve their sentence in a female prison - even if they have a gender recognition certificate.“It would not be appropriate for me in respect of any prisoner to give details of where they are being incarcerated. She committed the crimes before she transitioned to female and when she was known by the "dead name" Adam Graham.
