Brexit campaigner Nigel Farage claimed Coutts bank no longer wanted him as a customer due to his political views. The bank is understood to have shut Farage’s account after he fell below the prestigious lender’s wealth requirements. Read more:
Speaking in a video on his Twitter account, Mr Farage said:"They're telling the press I don't meet their wealth threshold.Asked by Sky News about the minimum limit, Mr Farage said:"No threshold has ever been mentioned to me. The current position is higher than for much of the last decade. They are hiding behind this."
The Coutts website clearly indicates to anyone inquiring about becoming a member that there are minimum levels of money required. The prime minister told broadcasters:"The chancellor has been very clear about this and spoken to the regulator.
