The sports brand have issued a statement following the criticism from England fans
Nike has announced they will be selling Nottingham-born Mary Earps England goalkeeper jersey following widespread criticism that it was not available to the public. The goalkeeper from West Bridgford had an outstanding performance in the Women’s World Cup 2023 - and yet fans were previously unable to get their hands on her jersey.
The sports band faced backlash for not selling it, despite Earps winning the World Cup’s golden glove. It meant that hundreds of thousands of fans flocked together to sign a petition to get the England sponsors to sell the tops.In a statement, the sports brand said it had now "secured limited quantities of goalkeeper jerseys to be sold". The brand shared a statement saying they ‘didn’t serve the fans’ who wished to ‘support the squad’s goalkeepers’.
"Nike has secured limited quantities of goalkeeper jerseys for England, US, France, and the Netherlands to be sold through the federation websites over the coming days, and we are also in conversations with our other federation partners.
