Abimael Guzmán, the leader of Peru's Shining Path Marxist insurgency, dies in prison aged 86
Abimael Guzmán, the founder of Peruvian rebel group called the Shining Path, died aged 86 of poor health in his prison cell. Convicted as a terrorist in 1992, he passed away while serving a life sentence in a maximum-security prison.
