LocalElection2023 from across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire continues
The counting of votes in this year's local elections has now begun as people in areas of Nottinghamshire wait to see who their local councillors will be for the next four years. Counts for Ashfield and Bassetlaw took place overnight, with Ashfield Independents maintaining control of Ashfield District Council - with controversial councillor Tom Hollis being the victory that officially took the party over the majority line.
They also gained one seat in Hucknall West and won Kingsway. In Bassetlaw, Labour increased their majority by one seat. Counts at Nottingham City Council, Gedling Borough Council, Broxtowe Borough Council, Mansfield District Council, Rushcliffe Borough Council and Newark and Sherwood are taking place today.
