Congratulations!
A cyclist from Nottingham has completed his goal of cycling the distance of the world: 25,000 miles. Edward McEwan completed his goal on July 11 in 1,063 days - with no days off.
Edward, a volunteer for the Samitrans since 2011, spoke more about his journey. He said: “I've been a volunteer for 12 years now, listening on the phones and in the years gone by running outreach events. “As a charity we need to fundraise to stay open. Nottingham Samaritans has its own charitable status so we all try and pitch in.Edward started cycling three years ago and just wanted to do a 365 challenge; however, he enjoyed cycling so much he decided to continue. He added: “I guess I enjoyed the 4:30 early morning rides so much that I finished early.”
He continued: “I managed Kilimanjaro at 18 and lots of other peaks. I've done other less physical challenges but mental ones, like interviewing people about a conflict in Uganda [but] this would still be the most demanding in terms of time and energy!”
