Rick Strachan, assistant coach of the Nottingham Panthers, has paid tribute to hockey star Adam Johnson
A coach who worked with late ice hockey player Adam Johnson has said the 'talented and kind' sportsman will 'never be forgotten'. Rick Strachan, assistant coach of the Nottingham Panthers, has paid tribute to Adam Johnson, who died after his neck was cut by a skate during a game against Sheffield Steelers on Saturday, October 28.
He added: "I saw him as a very humble person, considering the amount of talent he had. He was so kind and had a great sense of humour."He was very willing to help others and was incredibly kind. Despite being very talented he had no ego at all - he was a one-of-a-kind guy." "They have had specialist counselling and we've had some professionals come in and speak to us as a group. It will be difficult but we want to make sure they can return to having a normal life after this," Mr Strachan said.
