Parts of the UK have been issued with a weather warning by the Met Office
issued a yellow warning for parts of the UK as a low-pressure system brings unreasonably strong winds and heavy showers.
The UK experienced its hottest June on record, but those hoping for more sun in July have been disappointed so far. Nottinghamshire has instead experienced regular thunderstorms throughout the start of the month, but now strong winds - which the Met Office has described as unusual for this time of year - have become a problem.
Those living across the country have been told to batten down the hatches and prepare for a full day of strong winds today . The Met has warned that short-term loss of power and other services is possible, while public transport may also be delayed because of the gusts. It also comes as El Nino, a global weather phenomenon that comes every three to seven years when the Pacific Ocean heats up and raises global temperatures, is set to wreak havoc on the UK in the coming months.
