The Royal College of Nursing says its members will walk out on January 18 and 19 if ministers don’t around the table. The health service and other critical sectors are being hit by a wave of industrial action over pay and conditions throughout the winter.Nurses have rejected a salary offer calculated by an independent pay review board which recommends NHS pay deals to the government.
Rishi Sunak has rebuffed calls for him to negotiate directly with the nursing union to bring the industrial action crisis to an end.Nurses held two 12-hour strikes on December 15 and 20 and have upped the ante after the action failed to get ministers to change course.
