Nurses will go on strike again on two further dates in January, with more walkouts to come in the New Year
It comes after nurses first went on strike on December 15 and December 20 in a dispute over pay, with many people's operations and appointments delayed.
RCN boss Pat Cullen said: “The government had the opportunity to end this dispute before Christmas but instead they have chosen to push nursing staff out into the cold again in January.A rally in support of nursing this week.A union representing some ambulance workers also said on Friday that its members would no longer strike on December 28, to give the public some respite over the Christmas period, having walked out on Wednesday.
Unite, which also represents some ambulance workers, took part in the December 21 strike, but has not announced further strike dates.A spokesman for GMB said: "The NHS is on its knees and the public are suffering every day because the Government has failed to properly resource and plan for our health service.
