One of three missing migrant boats found 78 Black Africans rescued in Gran Canaria. The two other boats, carrying around 270 people - including many children - are still missing at sea
carrying 78 sub-Saharan migrants has been found near the Canary Islands.The boat that was taken ashore at Gran Canaria was previously believed to have 86 people on board.The migrants departed Kafountine in Senegal over a week ago, with the intention of using the Spanish islands as a staging post to reach the Spanish mainland, 1,600km away.
The biggest boat left Senegal on 27 June, and the two other boats on 23 June. Family members lost contact with the passengers several days ago.
