The games were held by Xcite Ageing Well

Cyrenians OPAL in partnership with Xcite Ageing Well hosted the closing event of the OPAL & Xcite Games 2023.

To celebrate Healthy Aging Month, for the second year running, 22 teams across West Lothian were invited to take part in the games which included ten pin bowling, new age kurling, bean bag game and the surprise basket. Once all the teams had taken part and the scores were tallied, everyone then came together for the celebration event taking place in the Hilcroft Hotel, Whitburn.

Funding for the event was kindly provided by Lynn Smith at Smile ~ Adventure with Dementia, who presented the medals and trophies on the day."We would also like to say a massive thanks to the children at the Big Bird Nursery - Whitburn who created the super certificates for participants and Morrisons Bathgate Community Champion for The afternoon concluded with entertainment from singer John Davidson who kept the dance floor full for the afternoon.

"The Hilcroft Hotel was the perfect venue to hold our celebration afternoon with excellent service from the staff. One of our favourite quotes on the day was 'older people? I can’t see any'."Finally, a thank you to all the community groups who took part in the games and to our volunteers at OPAL and Xcite for everything you do!
