Sam said he was terrified the first time he visited but urged everyone to go.
Sam Heughan is best known for playing Scottish icon Jamie Fraser in Outlander, but away from his role he also has various other projects which are focused around Scotland such as his show Men in Kilts and taking on the famous West Highland Way for his book, Waypoints.
Sam said his favourite tourist attraction is Edinburgh's underground city, which lies below the modern streets. These were only rediscovered in the 1980s and hinted at a miserable life for the poorest citizens who would have lived there. The vaults are also said to be home to a malevolent spirit known as the 'South Street Entity'.Earlier this year, when asked where his favourite place in Scotland was, he firstly said the Isle of Skye but then said "going back to Edinburgh" where he lived as a teenager.
