As of this week, there are still over 725,000 Covid vaccination booster doses available.
Those who have not yet booked a vaccine appointment will receive notifications via text messages, emails, and letters this week, asking them to do so. Additionally, one million more individuals will be prompted to book their vaccine appointments.
Despite a recent decline, Covid-19 hospital admissions are still most prevalent among individuals aged 75 and over. Currently, the rate ofadmissions stands at 34.9 per 100,000 for individuals aged 75-84, and 74.5 per 100,000 for those aged 85 and over. These rates remain significantly higher compared to other age groups. NHS director of vaccinations and screening Steve Russell said: “The covid vaccine still has a crucial role to play in protecting those at greatest risk of severe illness from the virus, including those with a weakened immune system as well as all aged 75 and above.
“I would urge anyone eligible for this extra protection to get their spring covid vaccination at the earliest opportunity and give yourself peace of mind this summer.”Individuals who receive an invitation for a spring vaccination should ensure that their appointment is scheduled at least three months after their last dose. The final round of spring vaccination appointments will be available until June 30, while future seasonal campaigns are expected to be more targeted.
