Notorious paedophile pop singer Gary Glitter could be released from prison in a matter of weeks, despite having only served half of his prison sentence, according to reports.
Glitter, 78, who was jailed for 16 years for sex offences on three girls aged between 8 and 13, could be let out as soon as next February.
His case does not have to be reviewed by the parole board, because he was sentenced to a determinate term. Although his release could still be blocked if parole chiefs thought he was a menace to society, Glitter has been a model prisoner. “Glitter has kept his nose clean in prison and toed the line and now his sentence is almost over," a ministry of justice source told the Sun.“The nature of his determinate sentence means the case won’t go to the Parole Board.
