Emergency services were called to the scene on Elbow Lane shortly before 4.30pm. Two female pedestrians and three vehicles had been involved in the incident.
One had suffered a serious head injury and was treated at the scene by paramedics. She was sadly pronounced dead shortly afterwards.The other woman also sustained serious injuries after the incident and has been taken to hospital. A witness told the Liverpool Echo that an air ambulance landed near the scene earlier this evening. They described how police were “everywhere”. A private ambulance has also attended and police have been seen using a drone.
The driver of the white Vauxhall Corsa remained at the scene and is helping police with their enquiries. On arriving at Elbow Lane, Merseyside Police officers found that a silver Ford Max, a red Jaguar, and a white Vauxhall Corsa were involved in the crash.
