Pensioner, 92, rushed to A&E with serious injuries after A59 Liverpool Road crash near Preston
Two cars, a Mercedes C220 and a Ford Ka, collided on Saturday afternoon , prompting a huge emergency services response to the area. At around 12.40pm, the A59 Liverpool Road was for shut off for hours due to the severity of the incident.reported that the passenger, a 92-year-old woman, was rushed to the hospital where she remains in a serious condition.Liverpool Road was shut off for several hours after the collision at the junction of Liverpool Road and Lindle Lane in Hutton, near Penwortham.
Police confirm the driver of the Mercedes, a 21-year-old man from Preston, was also not seriously injured. The force added no arrests have been made in connection with the incident. Images from the seen showed severe damage to the Ford Ka. The Mercedes could be seen veered off the road and into the nearby hedges.Sgt Marc Glass, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the injured woman and her family at this difficult time. We are investigating to establish exactly how the collision happened, and I’m keen to hear from anybody who witnessed the incident and has not already spoken to police.
