B&Q item that costs just £18 will help slash your energy bills by up to £300
People looking to lower their energy bills are being urged to invest in an £18 item from B&Q. Darren McGhee, a top-rated builder who owns DMG Services, explained that countless people fork out thousands to get their homes insulated, but what many don't realise is that they can do it for free.
The building expert - crowned as Screwfix Top Tradesperson in 2019 - explained how you can insulate your home for as little as £18.60 - and it could save you as much as £300 on heating bills every year. He added that the materials can be bought from popular stores such as B&Q, Wickes and Wilko.Speaking to The Sun, Darren said: "Fitting insulation in your loft space is the best way to stop heat escaping from your home - and it's also pretty cheap.
You can purchase a 100mm thick roll for around £20 for around eight metres. You'll typically need three layers of rolls to really notice the difference. The recommended thickness is 270mm, says EnergyHelpline. At the moment, average energy bills are capped at £2,500, but that's just the unit charge. How much you pay can be higher depending on usage, so it does pay to keep it as low as possible.
