Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola spoke about Man United's disappointing season under Erik ten Hag
Pep Guardiola said that Erik ten Hag has suffered at Manchester United this season as a result of the number of injuries their squad have sustained.
United have endured a miserable campaign, bombing out of the Champions League at the group stages and finishing eighth in the Premier League - 31 points behind champions City. Ten Hag enters the final with immense scrutiny around his future as the new United investors Ineos look to make their mark at Old Trafford.
In his defence, the United manager has cited the fact he has been without so many players for so long as mitigation for the results. That is a view shared by Guardiola, although the City boss did admit that they are in a results business.ALSO READ: Man City must target one Manchester United player in FA Cup Final
"In big clubs like United, City, when you don't win always you are in trouble," he said. "I would be in trouble if we didn't win. He has done many good things, I have huge respect for his job in the past and now at United I completely agree when I listen to him when he says they have not had a full squad this season and had a lot of injuries.
"I think this is the most important thing they have to think about because I am always focused that we have to be fit, fit, fit - otherwise we cannot use the players. They had a lot of problems and when that happens the manager suffers a lot. The squad is really good but the problem is when you cannot use them. This is a big disadvantage."
