All lines are closed while emergency services attend the scene
Merseyrail first started reporting disruption between Moorfields and Formby just before 4pm on Tuesday, August 22 following an "incident on the line". National Rail later confirmed a person was hit by a train between Hall Road and Southport.
A number of services have been cancelled and a rail replacement bus service has been requested. Delays are expected until around 6pm. A spokesperson from National Rail said: "A person has been hit by a train between Hall Road and Southport. To allow the emergency services to safely carry out their work, all lines are closed.
