A person has tragically died tonight following a suspected cliff fall
A full-scale rescue operation swung into action at around 7pm involving the HM Coastguard helicopter, the Air Ambulance, the PSNI, Coleraine Coastguard and Northern Ireland Ambulance Service.With blustery conditions in the area the headland was descended by 999 workers using ropes. A casualty was later recovered from Ramore Head on the west strand of Portrush, Co Antrim, at around 9.30pm.
Initial reports had claimed up to four people had got into difficulty but this was unconfirmed.In a post on Facebook, Coleraine Coastguard said: "Coleraine and Ballycastle Coastguard Rope Rescue Teams were tasked this evening to reports of a person fallen from the cliffs at Ramore Head, Portrush.
