The land has been put up for sale with a view to create nine townhouses
Residents have welcomed plans for dozens of garages to be transformed into townhouses in a Nottinghamshire town. A site including around 40 garages off Derwent Crescent in Arnold has been put up for sale with a view to create nine townhouses.
Fred Pashley, a retired cleaner who has lived in Derwent Crescent for 47 years, said the conversion would be a good thing. "It's an improvement I suppose, I wouldn't deter any of it," the 72-year-old said."It's always been an eyesore round there, to improve it is a good thing. It's mainly used for dumping things, it's been like this for years. To start with they were pretty decent.
"As long as the entrance is off the main road and not round here," said Mr Cook. "Parents of school kids park round here and nine more cars would be a bit too much. In the Rightmove listing, the site is described as in a "great location" on the outskirts of Arnold and "just a short drive from open countryside". It adds: "Mapperley's thriving shopping area is only about half a mile away."
