A large cannabis farm was found inside the empty Burnley premises and the electricity had been bypassed
A large cannabis farm has been found in east Lancashire after police rushed to reports that a building was being burgled.
Officers attended the empty premises in Burnley on Wednesday . Lancashire Constabulary said it was searched and found to be empty with no signs of any property being taken. However upon searching the property next door, police found a large cannabis farm. Evidence was also found that the electricity had been bypassed and engineers from Electricity Northwest had to attend the address to make it safe.Inspector Rob Grey, from Burnley Police, said: "The cultivation of cannabis is often seen as a minor offence but there are many hidden dangers including risk of fire.
"We are determined to tackle cannabis cultivation, as it can cause misery for local communities and often has strong links to organised crime." If anyone has any information, call 101 or report it online here. Operation Warrior is Lancashire Police’s response to tackling serious and organised crime in Lancashire and delivering on Police and Crime Commissioner Andrew Snowden's Fighting Crime Plan priority of disrupting and dismantling organised crime.
