Police 'circle car' before arresting man on major road
Officers were 'called to a report of a disturbance at an address on Cotton Tree Court in Reynold Street, Hyde ' at around 1:20pm this afternoon Greater Manchester Police said.
The Manchester Evening News understands police were told a suspect who left the scene was armed with a blade, sparking a manhunt that involved the police helicopter and a large number of officers.And according to those living nearby, armed officers were among those seen in the area during the search which covered the Welbeck Road and Mansfield Road areas.
Then at around 2:30 pm, officers swooped on Mottram Road and arrested a 20-year-old man on suspicion of common assault. He remains in custody for questioning this evening. One man said he saw officers surrounding a white 4X4 with a man laid on the floor beneath them as he made his way back from the Morrisons supermarket in the town.A GMP spokeswoman said: "At approximately 1:20pm this afternoon , officers were called to a report of a disturbance at an address on Cotton Tree Court in Reynold Street, Hyde.
"Following the incident, a 20-year-old man was arrested - at 2:30pm this afternoon - on Mottram Road on suspicion of common assault. He remains in police custody for questioning."
