Several homes were evacuated after the blaze broke out in Chesham Road, Bury
Firefighters rushed to the scene in Chesham Road at about 1.30pm today . Crews were alerted after concerned neighbours spotted smoke coming from the roof of a mid-terrace house.
"It was really scary," said Catherine Chukwu, who lives nearby. "There were fumes all over the place. "Several 999 calls were placed, and firefighters from Blackley, Rochdale, Heywood, Bury, Whitefield, Ramsbottom, Broughton, Agecroft, and the Technical Rescue Unit from Ashton made their way to the scene on blue lights.
