Police said the 31-year-old dirt bike rider died at the scene.
“This tragic outcome highlights the dangers of operating these off road bikes and ATVs on the road. They are not designed for the street and create a hazardous condition for everyone that travels on our roads," Hartford police chief Jason Thody said in a statement.
"Our officers have seized 57 of these types of vehicles and made 49 arrests for illegally operating them in Hartford so far this year. We will continue to focus on ATV enforcement efforts, traffic safety and quality of life.
