Police in Northern Ireland have confirmed they are investigating a security breach following reports that a document with information regardingBBC Radio Ulster’s Nolan Show reported that the Police Service Northern Ireland document was found this morning showing a detailed itinerary of the trip, which is being made under a major security operation.to help cover the visit to Northern Ireland, following an intelligence warning of a potential terror plot by dissident republican groups.
A spokesperson for PSNI said: “We are aware of a security breach. An investigation has commenced and we have notified the Senior Information Risk Officer. “We take the safety of visiting dignitaries, members of the public and our officers and staff extremely seriously and will put the appropriate actions in place.”
Chris Todd, Assistant Chief Constable of the PSNI, previously said Mr Biden’s visit, which has been made to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement, was the biggest policing operation the organisation had undertaken in nearly 10 years. Police officers stand guard outside the Grand Central Hotel, where U.S. President Joe Biden is staying, as he visits Northern Ireland The US President will also spend time with figures from the main political parties in Northern Ireland before he heads to Ulster University’s new £350m Belfast campus to deliver a speech.
