'Disgusting'
Police have confirmed they are investigating footage circulating on social media appearing to show a cat being thrown into a quarry.
In the video, reportedly shot in the Carnforth area, a youth appears to be standing at the side of a large cliff holding the animal in his right hand. The cat does not appear to be moving before it is thrown into the water below. The black and white feline then disappears from view. A number of other people can also be seen in the clip.The footage is believed to have initially been circulating on Snapchat, before being distributed widely on Facebook and Twitter.
This afternoon , Lancashire Constabulary has confirmed it is aware of the 14-second clip and is investigating the incident. The force believes it occurred in the Carnforth area - although the exact location and circumstances are yet to be confirmed.A spokesperson for the force said: "We are aware of a video which has been posted on social media which appears to show an act of cruelty to a cat in the Carnforth area.
