'This saying that the police use about keeping people safe - well they didn't keep Glenn safe.'

The brother of murdered Carrickfergus man Glenn Quinn has said the PSNI were aware of a threat against him, but did not inform Glenn or his family.

Speaking to Belfast Live, Martin said they met with a senior investigating officer from the PSNI a day or two after Glenn's murder. "It was hard to believe that an institution which we're supposed to have faith in to protect us had failed so miserably in protecting a disabled, dying man from an attack which they knew was coming."Had Glenn been told and we were aware, his family, we could have stepped in, took him to our houses, got him offside and then tried to get in touch with community reps and then try and deal with the matter at a local level.

"Nobody feels safe there, nobody feels safe enough to come forward and give witness statements because there's no policing there. "That's another way of creating fear against people who speak out or people who oppose the criminality and the violence that's going on in this town. "I want to reassure the public that Police Officers and staff are working around the clock to prevent crime and harm to individuals, protect the vulnerable and detect those who commit crime and bring them before the courts."
