West Yorkshire Police has announced a new operation to tackle criminals stealing motorbikes and using them to commit crime. Police say it is causing big concerns amongst the East Leeds communities.
Areas such as Crossgates have faced issues with bike crime in the past. With some residents now claiming there is 'drag racing' and general anti-social behaviour happening in their neighbourhoods. The motorcycle community in Leeds are expected to also benefit from this operation. The force are asking legal riders to place better security measures including disc locks and chains on their vehicles to prevent theft.
In a statement, West Yorkshire Police said: "Officers from East Leeds Neighbourhood Team have set up a new operation to target criminals stealing motorcycles and using motorcycles to commit crime.
