The gold-coloured cylinder, estimated to be 2.5 metres long, was reported by local residents at Green Head, about 155 miles north of Perth
Police in Western Australia are trying to work out what a mystery object is after it washed up on a remote beach.
Officers have been guarding the large item, which appears to be made of metal, as authorities try to establish its origins.
