Police say the injury was serious
A police officer has been seriously injured with a machete after arresting someone for possession of a knife and a gun in Harehills, Leeds.
While the man was being detained by police, an officer was injured and rushed to hospital with a "serious leg injury". A 22-year-old man was then arrested and is in police custody.Police have been granted extra powers under the Section 60 order, meaning they can stop and search anyone who they suspect may be carrying illegal weapons. A police cordon remained in place while the police made further enquiries.
